Constantinople (2015–2016 BGG Wargame PnP Contest Winner) is a solitaire historical board game designed by Steve Ashing. I provided the complete visual overhaul, creating an authentic parchment-style map with distinct provincial routes, stylized Byzantine architectural icons, mosaic-framed holding boxes, and historical lettering, which helped the game win the contest overall along with the award for Best Art Work.
Ilya volunteered his services with my first game design, Constantinople. My basic, bland, functional art was replaced by Ilya’s excellent theme-appropriate reworking. Ilya was open to feedback and discussion about the game art, but I hardly made any suggestions as his game art and map were beyond my ability to improve. With Ilya’s help, Constantinople won the first boardgamegeek print and play wargame contest including an award for best art work.
